Eventually, Andrew would become a member of the band and then later, lead vocalist for Wham! alongside his childhood friend and fellow band mate George Michael. George Michael passed away on Christmas day 2016, a death that was deeply sad for me and every one who loved George. He was the best artist I have ever known. But as our grief deepened, so did my understanding of this man, and his life, his loss.

I was 14 years old and had just discovered Madonna, who changed my life. The first concert I went to was Wham! in Sheffield. My mum and I were waiting for George Michael to come out. But he never did. William, who appeared as the third member of Wham!, came out instead and performed a few songs with Madonna, until he was booed offstage.
