I was surprised to learn that a book I had been wanting to read for awhile, The This House of Sky: Landscapes of a Western Mind, was free with Audible. I have never heard of Tom Stechschulte before, but it turned out he does an excellent job narrating the audiobook. He has the perfect voice for the story and makes it even more enjoyable than before.

"The This House of Sky: Landscapes of a Western Mind" is a memoir by author and poet Ivan Doig. It was translated from the original Scots Gaelic by Tom Stechschulte, who also narrates the audiobook. The book details the author's family history and childhood living in Scotland before they moved to Montana.

Tom Stechschulte's narration is excellent and his voice lends a soothing quality to the story. The author describes life on the prairie as difficult and tedious with prairie grass so tall it can grow up to a cow's belly.

Ivan Doig's novel, The This House of Sky, is a story about an American settler, Dirk Roever, and his family. Early in the novel they find themselves leaving their homestead when they come across a Canadian settlement which has been attacked by Native Americans.
