It takes Billy years to accept that he is actually kinder than she is, but eventually he does--and begins to like her for it.
Most mental illness is typically divided into two categories: psychiatric and psychosocial illnesses. The strong sensitive boy is a novel about a young boy with mental illness but, unlike many other books that depict similar stories, this novel takes place entirely in the mind of the child.
Stephen Bel Davies is a British actor who read the audiobook for the Ted Zeff book, The Strong Sensitive Boy. The book is about a boy named Will whose parents worry that he may be dealing with sensory integration disorder. Will becomes an attention-seeking troublemaker and they put him in public school to get him out of his house, where he feels smothered by his overbearing mother. In public school, Will's life changes when he meets a girl who has her own set of challenges. Stephen Bel Davies narrates this story so it is enjoyable to listen to and even more enjoyable to read.
The Strong Sensitive Boy is a short story about a young boy who's been bullied for being different. After the first day of school, the bullies pick on him at recess when he leaves his lunchbox outside. They throw rocks at him and make fun of him until they realize that they're making themselves feel bad too. All of their feelings are so raw and hurtful because they've built up resentment over time. The story ends with one bully apologizing to the boy and telling him that even though he might be different, he's still really cool and worth something just like anyone else.
