The Almost Moon Free Audiobook Download by Alice Sebold
Joan Allen narrated Alice Sebold's book The Almost Moon in a way that I rarely get from audiobooks. It is much more relaxed and just so soothing, it was a joy to listen to. She doesn't try to imitate the author's voice but this might have been a problem for some listeners. But I actually liked listening to her narration because she sounds like my grandmother - which is what I imagine Joan Allen would sound like if she were my grandmother!
"The Almost Moon" is a chilling, deeply emotional novel that tells the story of a young woman who loses her husband and daughter to murder. After a difficult first year and a half without them, she's finally beginning to feel at peace when their bodies are brought home in pieces. The book is narrated by Joan Allen after Alice Sebold passed away. Joan Allen is known for her great range of voice characterization and she takes on this narration with skill and grace.
"The Almost Moon" by Alice Sebold is a riveting novel of teenage suspense and psychological thriller. A new young girl in school, Lindsey, is having trouble making friends and seems to be tightly wound but nothing seems amiss. One evening when she's walking home from school, she sees what appears to be a full moon in the sky above her, though it's actually just a bunch of clouds so bright they appear like the moon. As soon as the class picture is taken that day, Lindsey notices something else - that on the back of her classmate's photo is scrawled with "kill Lindsey."
The Almost Moon is a haunting novel that takes place in the wake of the Columbine massacre. It tells the story of a girl named Rosemary, who survives being shot on that tragic day and struggles to cope with her guilt and grief while also dealing with school bullies, her father's death and a sexual abuse scandal at her school.
The Almost Moon is a story of a woman, who just wants to be loved and adored. She decides to take this opportunity and make something out of her life. She starts off by getting breast implants, living in constant fear and molding herself into the perfect daughter-in-law. This book gave me a new perspective on how people interact with others and were able to change their lives for the better.
