This is a story about a group of people who became friends on the internet, then decided to embark on a journey together. The book tells the story of their adventure from their physical and mental preparations, through the trip itself and finally the aftermath.

In her book 'Skiing into the Bright Open: My Solo Journey to the South Pole' author Liv Arnesen recounts her experience of being one of only two women on an expedition to the South Pole, which is often referred to as a man's world. Arnesen felt that she had two choices in life: a life that was safe and comfortable or a life of adventure. She chose adventure, and in 2007 she set off to Antarctica by herself. In this book, Arnesen shares her journey and what it was like for her not only as an individual but also for the tiny number of female explorers who took part in this adventure.

This is a book about one woman's solo trek to the South Pole. The author, Liv Arnesen, makes this trip with no sled dogs for company. She learns how to ski and takes a lot of pictures along the way. In her journal she describes all the different aspects of her journey to Antarctica as well as all of the things that happen in between.

My journey to the South Pole was a piece of cake. I had been skiing for about five years and thought it was time for a new adventure. Six months later, I found myself at the end of the world with my ski gear in one hand and the other on my backpack containing everything I could possibly need to survive.

'Ann Richardson' reads the book which describes how Liv Arnesen, a former professional ski racer who became a physical therapist, spent 22 months traveling to the South Pole on her own. This talk of how Liv came to be in Antarctica is also about how she has changed, and how this journey has helped her find her true self.

When Liv Arnesen was just 10 years old, her mother died. The next day, her father threw the girl’s packed school bag into a lake and moved away. With no one else to take care of, it was up to Liv when she turned 18 to give herself the gift of a career as an adventurer. She decided on skiing and went on a solo journey to the South Pole in order to raise funds for her first big project in Antarctica – penguin research. She is now 29 and has backpacked across multiple continents and traveled through some amazing countries- but this is only the beginning of what Liv’s adventures have yet to bring her
