Permission to Dream is a narrative by Chris Gardner, who has had major struggles in his life. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the first person in his family to graduate from high school. Despite being the first person with a disability to attend university in the 1970s at the University of Hartford, he graduated with honors and went on to become editor-in-chief of The Harvard Business Review. In 1985 he founded the charity organization LiveStrong Inc., which has raised over $500 million.
