Oscar Wilde, a writer of prose and verse, was born in Dublin Ireland on October 16, 1854. He wrote several plays that became international successes, including 'The Importance of Being Earnest', 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' and 'An Ideal Husband'. However he is best known for his short story 'The Decay of Lying' which has been adapted into various other forms such as ballet, opera and songs.

Oscar Wilde is a British writer best known for his plays, poetry and short stories. Though he was born in Ireland, his most prolific work was written in the Victorian era, when England was the pinnacle of society. In 1891 he was arrested for 'gross indecency' and died four days later, only forty-six years old.

It really gives the listener an insight into Wilde's personality and makes you care about him as much as I did.
