No Hero: The Evolution of a Navy SEAL Free Audiobook Download by Mark Owen,Kevin Maurer

If you are looking for an audiobook to be by yourself and zone out, this book is the one for you. I found the book very intriguing and well told. This book tells the story of a Navy SEAL who has to overcome many obstacles in his career and personal life.

No Hero: The Evolution of a Navy SEAL is about my life as a Navy SEAL from the time I joined the military until 30 years after, when I retired. It's also about how my deeply held beliefs and rules for success were challenged by new ways of thinking in the late 20th century and early 21st century.

"No Hero" is a biography of Mark Owen, the now retired Navy SEAL turned author. The book is based off Owen's blog "No Hero," which was written from the perspective of Foley's non-fictional self in order to show how much of a struggle it is for many combat veterans to find a place in society after they leave Afghanistan and Iraq. When it comes to veterans, the book argues, there are just not enough places for them to go and this is a big reason why so many veterans end up on the streets or commit suicide.

Navy SEAL, Mark Owen, enlisted in the US Navy in 1985. He eventually joined the SEALs and served as a member of a Special Boat Team that was sent on its first mission to Somalia. Their target was Somali warlord Mohamed Farah Aidid. Owen and his team were ambushed by an elite squad of Somali militiamen, who killed 12 members of his platoon. Owen escaped and managed to find his way back to base with some help from local Somalis.

Navy SEAL turned author, Mark Owen, tells the story of his own evolution from a green 21-year-old to one of the most elite fighters in the world. Owen was one of the handful of men chosen to be among the very first to go through SEAL training and he shares his harrowing tales of surviving Hell Week, how he felt when assigned to Afghanistan, and what it was like becoming a father at 20.
