Mad Travelers is so well written that it was hard to stop listening long enough to do anything else. The narrator does an excellent job of telling the story and highlighting different characters with different voices. A lot of people would be turned off by such a long audiobook, but I had no problem staying engaged for hours at a time.
The book is a memoir of the author's quest to travel around the world and explore both historic and exotic locales. He mentions his experiences with the Tasmanian Devil, the most endangered animal on Earth, being pursued by a pack of wild dogs in Mongolia, being swarmed by 'jaguars' in Belize and other encounters like these. The author also takes readers along for a ride on his adventures through time-traveling machines in Iceland, diving in the Great Barrier Reef and getting used to life as an American living abroad at age 11.
