Lorraine Hansberry was a playwright and an activist who is best known for her 1962 play, "A Raisin in the Sun." She was also an active supporter of the Black Arts Movement and one of the founders of the radical organization, The Black Women's Revolutionary Council.

This is an absolutely wonderful book and my favorite audiobook. It's beautifully written, very informative, and has been a game changer for me. I've learned so much about Lorraine Hansberry from this biography and am appreciative of all her contributions to the fight for equality in America.

This book is a narrative of the life and works of Lorraine Hansberry, an American playwright and activist. The author uses letters, interviews, and records to explore the contradictions of her personal and public lives. The reader will explore the themes of race and racism, gender identity, marriage and divorce and how they shaped Hansberry's work.

You may not know the name Lorraine Hansberry, but you will recognize her work. She wrote A Raisin in the Sun and To Be Young, Gifted and Black, which was later a hit on Broadway. Perry explores Hansberry’s life in detail, not just her achievements but also her complexities.
