Kindred Free Audiobook Download by Octavia E. Butler
This powerful story tells of the wife, Dana, and husband, Rufus she has left behind in her world of the future when she is reborn as a young black woman.
I listened to the audiobook version of Kindred by Octavia E. Butler, narrated by Kim Staunton, and it was a very fun and interesting book. The entire time I was listening, I felt like I was living in the story.
Kindred is the haunting story of Dana, a black woman who wakes up to find herself in a white body and is forced to confront the horrors of slavery. Her journey won't be easy, but her willingness to fight for her freedom stirs up hope for others like her.
In this historical science fiction novel, Dana is a black woman who lives in California and is turned into a white man by a government experiment called the Change. When the experiment fails to make her white, Dana's family takes her back to their ancestral home in Mississippi. Dana quickly learns that she must not only deal with the problems of being black in Mississippi, but also learn how to live as a man while trying to suppress her memories of living life as a woman.
"I've always been drawn to the idea of alternate universes. I like stories about parallel worlds. Another day, another life, another universe."
Kindred is a science fiction time-traveling story about Dana, a black woman who is taken from her home in Los Angeles and transported to slavery in 1873. This audiobook download has a narrator named ['Kim Staunton'] who does an amazing job at adapting Butler's writing into a listenable book.
