Hiding in Plain Sight: My Holocaust Story of Survival Free Audiobook Download by Beatrice Sonders

The Holocaust is a tremendous and unimaginable tragedy that has affected the lives of countless people around the world. From a young age, I was fascinated by the stories of survivors. When I found out that my luck was actually just as bad as theirs, it was difficult to wrap my head around that concept. It wasn't an exaggeration or a stretch - my family was killed. My grandparents, my aunt and uncle, and their little daughter were all killed in Auschwitz concentration camp when I was only three years old. This audiobook tells me about surviving such an intense situation - how you can make it through anything if you understand how to hide in plain sight.

This audiobook is a true story of survival and love against all odds. The author writes about her trials and tribulations from the time she was captured by the Nazis, to the time she escaped from Auschwitz at the age of seventeen. 'Hide in Plain Sight' is gripping and powerful, but it is also one woman's story, so it is often difficult to relate to at times. It's well worth listening to though, just like a good book.

There is a moment when the three-year-old girl in me dies and the old woman emerges. I am watching her body go through the changes. She is paralyzed and cannot move her arms or legs. Her heart has stopped beating for what will be hours, and judging by the color of her face she is slowly dying.

This survival story is for those who are not familiar with the Holocaust, but would still like to learn about it. This audiobook tells the backstory of this survivor. It has been adapted for English readers and includes both reading of the German text and a translation of it.

Even though I survived the Holocaust, this is not a happy story. This is a story of the tragedy and humiliation that befell the Sonders clan. I was born in 1939. My mother Lea was 16 when she married my father Meyer, who was 22-years-old. When I was born, Meyer became my legal guardian and Lea became his legal wife in Palestine. There were four other siblings in my family: two boys and two girls. Along with our parents and six children, we visited relatives and stayed in Palestine for about nine months until we had to flee because of the Nazis.

This is an amazing book. The story of Beatrice Sonders' life, from the time she was a little girl in Poland through World War II, and into her adulthood in America. Along with a fascinating and detailed history of life during WW2, this book is also full of hope. It's not only about surviving the Nazis, but it's about how Beatrice thrived after everything she has been through.
