Corrie ten Boom is a Dutch woman who was a devout follower of the Bible. She left Holland and spent her life in the United States. Her family lived in Corrie's home where they ran a soup kitchen, a mission to house as many people as they could. In 1942 she had just finished an evening service when she heard trumpets from heaven telling her that she needed to come home to help those less fortunate than herself and their family. On December 17, 1944, Corrie gave up the good fight for God and entered the hospital for surgery on her breast cancer.

In the 1920's, a Dutch girl, Corrie ten Boom, together with her family and friends, is hiding Jews in her home during the Nazi occupation of Europe. She was given the status as “Keeper of the Angels’ Den” by the Nazis because she helped save so many Jews and set up safe houses for them to escape to.

"It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong may stumble and fall who truly supports you. You can only give real help to another by being willing to be just as vulnerable as they are."

Corrie ten Boom: Keeper of the Angels' Den is a book with a compelling and powerful story that moves, while also teaching amazing spiritual lessons. It's also an amazing book for children at heart, as it was written by Corrie ten Boom herself. The illustrations by Janet Benge are beautifully done and make this book even better than it already is.

For me, Corrie Ten Boom was a metaphor for what God has done in my life. We all have our places of darkness that are hidden away and not talked about, but when you come across someone who is open and willing to share their story with others you can't help but realize how powerful it is. I enjoyed the audiobook because it allowed me to get past the words on the pages and into the essence of her story.
