It is often said that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Perhaps this is true, but there are some characteristics that are universally adored and appreciated - like Maryse's voice. It's mesmerizing, compelling, powerful and it will transport you to another world with a single listen. When I was offered the opportunity to review this audiobook for Book Briefs, I jumped at the chance without hesitation. The premise of the book itself made it instantly irresistible to me as well; an epic love story between two women in Liverpool during the late 1800s who share a common passion.

Julia Whelan, the narrator of the audiobook, does an amazing job doing a new take on the classic novel. It's interesting to see how she brings her own narration style and different inflections to such a beloved story.

Blush is narrated by Julia Whelan. The book is written in a first person point of view, like all of Jamie's books. This audiobook tells the story of Jamie's heroine, Rachel, who has just graduated from college with a degree in English and hopes to go on to law school. She's also got her eye on marrying her childhood crush, Seth. When she moves into her family home across the country from where he lives now, the history between them starts coming back to haunt them both.

Julia Whelan’s voice is a wonderful blend of innocence and wisdom that I found myself listening to for hours on end. The narrative was so compelling that I felt like I was in the book with her, experiencing each moment as she did. As an audiobook narration, it only gets better and better as you listen, which is a huge plus.
