A Handful of Hard Men: The SAS and the Battle for Rhodesia Free Audiobook Download by Hannes Wessels

In A Handful of Hard Men, author Hannes Wessels tells the story of a white Rhodesian Special Air Service group that found itself fighting a guerrilla war against black and Indian rebels. The small team in question was led by Lieutenant Jack Chekijian, who later became famous as "the man with no name."

The SAS have been close to the hearts of men and women of all ages since they were first formed in 1942. Their story begins with their involvement in World War II. For a time, they served under British command but eventually, they seceded and became an independent unit that would serve their country well over the course of decades. The SAS became more famous for their activities in the Middle East where they played a crucial role in creating peace for Israel by many accounts.

A Handful of Hard Men: The SAS and the Battle for Rhodesia tells the story of the last years of white rule in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. After World War 2, a British colony called Rhodesia named after Cecil Rhodes was established. In 1964, an uneducated man named Ian Smith led a successful coup d'etat and kicked out Britain from Rhodesia. Ten year later, Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) took over with armed force and began to forcefully remove whites. The story takes place during those last years when the country is exploding into chaos and undergoing heavy fighting between ZANU and the British forces supporting Smith's regime.

Jack Chekijian, a lieutenant in the Rhodesia Security Forces and one of only a few white members of the SAS (South African Special Air Services), was recruited to fight in the Battle for Zimbabwe. He succeeds as well as he does because he is a good soldier and takes his training seriously. He has always been driven by ambition however, which makes him more than willing to take orders from those who would put their own interests first

This is an audiobook that tells the story of how a group of soldiers from Britain fought in the Battle for Rhodesia. They were also known as the SAS, or Special Air Service. These men used unorthodox tactics to capture a dangerous country and bring it into British control.
