Set in the world of wine country, Winemakers is a novel about secrets and betrayal, sisterhood and rivalry. It's about the power that secrets have to destroy - and the power of friendship to heal. It's a story of mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, employees and employers; of enemies who become friends, and friends who become enemies. Irene Kelly has returned to her hometown in California wine country to care for her ailing mother, but finds herself falling for Jack Kohler, owner of a thriving vineyard. Theirs is an unlikely match between an upper-class wine snob from San Francisco and the son of an East Coast blueblood family deeply involved with their own winery on the other side of Napa Valley. Irene shares many secrets with her new lover - secrets she promised never to reveal - but when Jack's wife dies under suspicious circumstances, Irene realizes yet another promise she must break: it was never fair to keep them apart."

In a wine-producing region of California, the owner of an small vineyard is found dead in his office. The prime suspect is Luc Laurent, who has a grudge against the victim. But suspicion falls on Kimberly Hart, the only witness to his death. She is the owner's daughter, and was the one last to see him alive. As she struggles to figure out what actually happened that night, she soon realizes that her father's death wasn't an isolated incident.

Erin Bennett's narration of Winemakers is excellent. She knows the story and keeps listeners engaged. The story follows a family through the generations, beginning with a grandfather who owns an old winery in France. The book explores both French and American wines and tells the story of how difficult it is to run a winery and live up to expectations at the same time.
