On a snowy night, sixteen-year-old 'Jess' and her best friend, 'Maddie', encounter a car accident. Maddie is killed in the crash while Jess slowly recovers from her injuries. Thankfully, she has an amazing teacher and counselor to help her through the tragedy of Maddie's death. The audio version of this book that you can find online tells the story of what happened when Jess was hit by a car on a snowy night.

Claire McGowan's novel is told from two perspectives. As the reader listens to the story, they are introduced to a couple who's only daughter has passed away. The husband and wife begin to meet people they don't know in their daughter's name but soon realize that something is going wrong. The narration switches back and forth between the wife and husband so that you understand that each person believes they are the one telling the story.

What You Did is a contemporary thriller by Claire McGowan.
