War of the Wolf: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Bernard Cornwell

The War of the Wolf was a hard-hitting and fast-paced story of war, with plenty of action that had me flipping the pages. The narration was well done, carrying out the dark story in an exciting way. The author did a brilliant job transitioning from one character to another by using different voices for each narrator. I did wish that there had been more background information about the characters and how they were related to one another, but this wasn't enough to take away from my reading experience.

War of the Wolf follows the fortunes of three men in 13th century England. This is a rare find because it's not just any tale from medieval times--this book is based on real people and events that often makes for good fiction. The story centers around William Marshal, a knight who gradually transforms from an insignificant servant to one of the most powerful nobles in England during his lifetime.

The first in the War of the Wolf trilogy, this novel is a gripping and fast-moving account of the conquest of Normandy during WWII. It follows nine people from different walks of life, but all bound together by a singular hope: to escape to England. Deeply detailed and rich with action, War of the Wolf is a captivating read.

War of the Wolf is a thrilling read for all those interested in reading about the history of medieval warfare. What makes this book unique is that it tells the story from the perspective of the Saxons, who are led by Aethelflaed and Alfred.
