War Cry is a novel that follows the story of Courtney, who strives to make a name for herself in the world of international diplomacy. She achieves this dream when she becomes the personal assistant to her country's UN Ambassador. This high-profile position is not without its challenges as Courtney must work with hostile parties and sceptical individuals. One of these challenges comes in the form of an antagonistic Russian operative, Ivana Vyalov, who aims to thwart any progress that Courtney makes at every turn. It is up to Courtney and her team to stop Vyalov before it's too late.

Courtney family is a large and influential clan. War Cry: A Courtney Family Novel by David Churchill, narrated by Sean Barrett, offers an in-depth and detailed perspective of the clan's life. This audiobook download offers listeners a little bit more insight into the family, who were on the run from Robert de Clari.

Courtney Family novels are often described as "like a good read of an old friend" because they're stories that take place in the same time and place, but not the same story. War Cry: A Courtney Family Novel follows this tradition. The protagonist, Jorgi Courtney is a young woman who's on her honeymoon with her husband and is swept up into World War II without any warning. The first part of the novel is set in England during the Nazi invasion and shows some of the ways people were abused by the Nazis, including Jorgi's mother-in-law who was picked up for being Jewish. While Jorgi is away fighting for Britain, she sees more than enough signs that her father-in-law, Robert Courtney, has been a Nazi collaborator. The second half of the novel moves back to the United States, where both her husband and father-in-law have left for a new life away from Germany following Germany's defeat in 1945.

War Cry is a mystery thriller about the Prescott family, who are cursed to die on their 25th anniversary. Their curse is supposed to be on their youngest member, but the eldest son and his wife just had a baby, so naturally the parents are worried about this new addition. After several deaths in their family, they decide to send the baby away for good. But then, everything starts getting crazy and War Cry begins with two murders that go unsolved until they're solved by War Cry's protagonist. This novel is full of twists and turns that kept me enthralled from beginning until end.
