In the book, Sethe is still grieving over her daughter's death and can't let go. She has a new baby girl and named her Sweet Home. One day when she's walking through the woods, she comes across a boy who appears to be dead. After the right side of his face is gashed open and his eye socket is bleeding, he tells her that he was attacked by an alligator. But Sethe convinces herself that he's lying and continues on with life as usual. Whenever something good happens, Sethe jumps to conclusions and assumes that it was a sign from God in order to move past the pain of losing her daughter.

Until it Fades is the story of Violet, a woman who decides to take a risk and leave her family in North Carolina to start over in Los Angeles. She takes a job as an assistant to the manager at a bookstore café called "The Bookworm." The café is designed like a library with bookshelves lining the walls and shelves on every table. Violet's world-view changes when she experiences firsthand how hard it can be to escape your past.

The narrator of the audiobook, Shayna Thibodeaux, did a superb job with this story. She introduced each character and narrated the personal stories that made them unique to make it easy for listeners to learn their background and connect with them.
