The Iron Druid, Atticus O'Sullivan, has been plagued by a series of bizarre and inexplicable occurrences throughout the years that have left him vulnerable to attack from all quarters. Now in the fifth installment of the Sticky Man Chronicles, Atticus finds himself in a struggle for life when his wife and children are kidnapped. With only his wits, faith, and what knowledge he can glean from the world of magic to help him, he must face down ancient forces long forgotten in order to save them.

"Luke Daniels has a voice that is no-nonsense, rough-hewn and deeply, warmly familiar. He inhabits the characters of this story so completely, you can't help but forget they're all merely words on a page."

The fifth book in the Iron Druid Chronicles series is the story of Atticus and Granuaile. The novel begins with them split apart and looking for each other. They are both captured by a group of Dark Hunters but soon find out that they are in grave danger from being hunted themselves. As Atticus and Granuaile attempt to take control of their situation, more magic is introduced into the story. Hearne's writing style and voice remain consistent throughout, making for an enjoyable reading experience despite the dark themes that this installment has to offer.

One of the most important chapters in the book has a huge impact on Atticus. It's also a chapter people will not forget as soon as they start listening to the audiobook. In it, Atticus is in the middle of an ambush by a trio of Fomorians, and he's trapped with no way out. When he was young, his grandfather told him stories about the Fomorian warriors who were ten feet tall, but now Atticus realizes that these stories were just tales from his grandfather's imagination. Telling this story to others is what leads him to realize that sometimes stories need to be taken with a grain of salt before you can truly enjoy them.
