Transcendent Kingdom: A novel Free Audiobook Download by Yaa Gyasi

Transcendent Kingdom, written by the amazingly talented Yaa Gyasi, is a novel about two boys from very different backgrounds who find themselves in the same boarding school and must learn to co-exist. Bahni Turpin does an amazing job narrating this book, which is one of my favorites from this year.

A young woman, Keta, leaves her village in Ghana and travels to the United States to find work during these difficult economic times. She struggles for years as one of the many displaced immigrants who are forced to live in poverty. When she finally does make it to the US, she is met with overwhelming success and self-sufficiency. The novel follows a small group of individuals who escape their chaotic lives by traveling through different dimensions – an African, a New Yorker and an Allied soldier from World War II.

Set in 18th century Ghana, this novel tells the life story of Kintu and his family. The novel explores the themes of classism and slavery, as well as the connection between history and memory. The writing is filled with beautiful imagery and deep insights into the human psyche.

"Transcendent Kingdom" is a 2016 novel by Yaa Gyasi. It tells the story of Esi, an African American teenager in 1870s Massachusetts who is raised by her spiritual father, Prince Gyasi, who believes that black people are divine and can transcend the material world. Esi relates her story to her grandson in present day, as he asks about his family's history. They discuss how other members of their community were affected by slavery and racism following Prince Gyasi's death. The novel explores the concept of destiny and legacy while also examining notions of faith and family.

Bahni Turpin reads the audiobook of "Transcendent Kingdom: A novel by Yaa Gyasi" and shares her thoughts on the book.

Bahni Turpin's performance is perfect in Transcendent Kingdom. She is able to tell the story without any interruption and keeps changing her tone to give you a little bit of a different experience. The narrator also gives you the option to listen to the audiobook in English or Spanish.
