She soon learns that Four Corners is not what it used to be. For example there are no more horses, no more cows and even the deer have all but disappeared. There are also ruins everywhere and when she follows the trail of refuse she finds out the people in Four Corners have been using a substance called "the oil" as fuel for their everyday lives.
