This House Is Haunted Free Audiobook Download by John Boyne
This House Is Haunted by John Boyne is a novel about two brothers and their haunted house. The narrator of the audiobook is not mentioned but it was assumed that it was Alison Larkin. This House Is Haunted is one of her most successful books.
In a house where nothing ever seems to happen, the first sound that wakes Peter is the hiss of a fuse on the fusebox. What follows is not just the most horrific evening in his life, but perhaps in all of history: men in black robes, an army of soldiers and police officers coming through the front door, and an endless parade of horrors in bedrooms, closets and attics.
The audiobook is one of the best ways to get into John Boyne's award-winning novel. Alison Larkin does an amazing job narrating the story, which is funny and thought-provoking in equal measure.
It is the first day of school. Mrs. Kettle is waiting for her children at the bus stop, but only one appears to be coming back. One by one they leave, never to return. Joined by a ghost who reveals that something sinister happened in their childhood home, they try to piece together what went wrong and why they are paying the price now.
This House Is Haunted is a novel that follows the lives of six adults and their three children in Ireland over five decades. The book is narrated by John Boyne, who also wrote the book's narration in his distinct Irish accent. Each chapter starts with the story of one of the adults and then it switches to one of the children, with each person's life intertwining.
Alison Larkin is the narrator in this audiobook, and she puts life into these pages. I feel like I know Alison, or at least I can imagine her, because she brings her character to life. The audiobook is available for free on iBooks Radio.
