Chloe Gong's novel is a thriller set in a dystopian future in which almost everyone is genetically engineered because of climate change and overpopulation. One day, when the experiment for the last three-year-old child to be born on earth is about to begin, the daughter of one of the doctors changes its outcome by turning off the device that was supposed to kill her.

These Violent Delights is a prequel to Chloe's debut novel, The Female Of. It tells the story of how Bailey Stone discovered that she had magic and what led her to leave home and travel around the world. There was no book two in the series, so this audiobook went on to tell how Bailey met her traveling companions, which included Gabrielle and Ryan. I really enjoyed this audiobook, which is well narrated by Cindy Kay.

This is a short and intense novel about a single mother's struggle as she tries to keep her family together in the midst of a violent world. The story starts off with three young children, Raven, Lizzie, and Mollie who are living in an abandoned house with their father and his girlfriend. They have been struggling financially, but they still have time to find scrap metal to recycle and other ways to make money.

'These Violent Delights' is a work of fiction about a student who gets the opportunity to attend an exclusive summer program in Europe that is supposed to teach them how to cope with the pressures of being rich, which ultimately leads them down a dark road.

'Cindy Kay' was of course an adaptation and in my opinion, she did a fantastic job. The way she delivered the story was unlike anything I have ever heard before.
