The Taming of the Queen Free Audiobook Download by Philippa Gregory
The Taming of the Queen is a historical novel that focuses on the lives of three English women, Constance, Elizabeth and Katherine Parr, in Tudor England. The novel began as a series of short stories written by Tudor historian Thomas More; they were later expanded into a full-length novel by Philippa Gregory.
The Taming of the Queen by Philippa Gregory is a captivating novel that will keep you interested from the beginning to the end. It is about Elizabeth Woodville, a commoner who married Edward IV and goes through many ups and downs in her life.
Bianca Amato is the narrator here. She's good at different voices, but I would have loved it if she had read the book herself. In addition to the narration issue, there were a few other things that bothered me about the audiobook version of The Taming of the Queen. It's been edited to make this book more accessible, and it also has a listening speed of 1.25x - which meant I had to keep pausing and rewinding constantly because my mind just wasn't on it when I listened.
When the six year old Elizabeth of York becomes queen, she is forced to marry her cousin Henry Tudor. The newlyweds must fight for Elizabeth's right to rule or forfeit their claim outright.
Bianca Amato's voice is perfect for the narration of this book. It lends itself to being both a cajoling narrator, who can lull one into a false sense of security, as well as delivering the shock when the story takes an unexpected turn.
The Taming of the Queen is a historical novel about Elizabeth Woodville which follows the lives of two women, Elizabeth and Margaret Beaufort, during the time leading to the Battle of Bosworth Field. Though it is well known that Elizabeth Woodville’s marriage to King Edward IV was not an honourable one, Gregory reveals that Elizabeth’s fate was actually worse than anyone could have imagined. This book has been translated into over 20 languages and is one of Gregory’s most popular novels.
