The Summer's End is a book about a woman, Emma, who lives in the south and has been through hard times. In this story, she meets a man named Olly at the same time her husband is seeking to make amends with Emma. Ultimately they are able to resolve their issues and start a new life together.

The Summer's End is a love story set in the backdrop of three states: Virginia, New York and Michigan. The novel follows the struggles of two people - Jenny, a young woman and daughter to a wealthy family who lives in Michigan, and Genevieve, a sheltered artist from New York. This audiobook begins on a beautiful day in June, with the sun shining and the birds singing. The protagonist is eleven-year-old Casey and she loves summertime. This story tells of how her life goes from perfect to bleak in one day. One moment her mom is gone, leaving no note behind, leaving Casey stunned and heartbroken.

The narrator of this story is the little girl, Annabel. The story opens on her birthday. Her little brother has a party for her with his new friends from school. They all sing happy birthday to their sister and then go outside. At the party, Annabel's best friend asks if she would like to go swimming in their pool while they are waiting for her parents to come home. When her parents finally arrive, they tell her that they don't want any more swimming until after Labor Day. As soon as Labor Day arrives, the kids attempt to swim again before their parents return home one day later than expected.

I wanted to listen to a book that I could go outside and not have to worry about too much. I wanted something comforting, but also action-packed. I chose The Summer's End narrated by Mary Alice Monroe. These are the perfect summer reads because they are light, fun, and romantic.
