Jack Hawkins is a quietly brilliant doctor who's been in the field for over 20 years. He's done many grueling and dangerous things, but the one thing that haunts him the most is his last case - a patient with a terminal illness who refused to speak and never revealed anything about her past. Louise Brealey, his former trainee, was in charge of interviewing her. But nothing she said made sense - what kind of person doesn't talk?
A gripping crime thriller with a medical twist, The Silent Patient is a taut and tense page-turner. Alex Michaelides tells the story of 'Dr. John Stone', a forensic psychiatrist called to investigate what appears to be an attempted kidnapping from Dr. Stone's own hospital ward, but on arrival he is met with more questions than answers when it emerges that all the evidence points to one of his patients being responsible for the attack.

Jack Hawkins's character, Dr. David King, is an emergency room doctor trying to save the life of a young female patient in a busy Greek hospital when she falls into a coma for six months. With every day that passes and the patient remaining unconscious, King comes across more inexplicable symptoms, which lead him to believe that his patient was intentionally poisoned with hallucinogens by her family while they were on vacation abroad in Greece.
