"The Royals Next Door" is a historical romance novel with a modern twist. It starts off in 1836, when the US Government decides to make a law that makes it illegal for any person to marry another person of non-majority race. This law does not only apply to black people; it also applies to other non-white races. It's now 2019, and Simone is one of the top models in the world, but she takes on a much different persona as "Queen Adriana".

The Royals Next Door is about a young girl named Violet who meets the Royal Family for the first time. She soon becomes friends with Queen Elizabeth and her children. The book takes place in the middle of an era when royalty was becoming more common and not everyone could relate to that lifestyle. I would recommend this book because it has a great message about finding your place in society and living with passions, even if they are not what society deems acceptable.

It's been three years since Karina Halle wrote her first book, "The Royals Next Door," and the sequel, "The Royals' Palace," is already on the shelves. In this companion novel, we're introduced to London Hayes and her cousin, but it's not until the third book in the series, "The Royals Siblings," that we get to know London's siblings as well.
