"I offer you a new translation of the Iliad and Odyssey, one that reflects my belief in the power of poetry to transcend time and place.'Caroline Alexander's beautiful, powerful translations make the ancient texts come alive. A masterful storyteller, she weaves her own account of the Trojan War into illuminating commentary on its meaning."

A few months ago I heard that one of my favorite authors, Caroline Alexander was going to release an audiobook version of the Iliad. This is a classic epic poem written by Homer that chronicles the events and history of ancient Greece. Being a huge fan of Homer's work and having enjoyed Alexander's take on the poems in his new translation, I knew it would be well worth the investment to download this audiobook and re-explore this story.

"Homer's epic poem the Iliad is one of the greatest works in Western literature and a source of enduring fascination. This new translation by Caroline Alexander gives us the most readable, accessible and historically accurate Iliad yet."-N.A.

The Iliad is an ancient epic poem about the Trojan War, which is still one of the best-known works of Western literature. The Iliad has been translated into English many times, but this new translation by Caroline Alexander features a new rendering of the text and a different approach to Homer's work. For example, she shies away from gender markers in her translation and leaves more room for interpretation than ever before.

The Iliad is an epic poem in the form of a long narrative poem in dactylic hexameter, traditionally attributed to Homers blind poet Homer. In the story, the angry and vengeful goddess Athena wreaks havoc while high on nectar and herbs. The gods mistake her for a mortal to give her gifts because she is disguised as such. This leads to her seduction by Zeus, who secretly tests her fidelity. She bears him two children: Heracles, who becomes chief god of the Greek pantheon, and Helen of Troy, cause of the Trojan War.
