The Glittering Court Free Audiobook Download by Richelle Mead
This is a dystopian novel where they're all beautiful. The land of Thaleia is a place where everyone has their own unique gifts, and these gifts are used to keep order in the land. Thaleia is run by a monarchy, and its power comes from the gifted people who rule it. With no memories of their past lives, the gifted have been raised in this society with no idea about what happened before or who their parents are.
In The Glittering Court Richelle Mead has written a dystopian version of fairy tales. I would recommend this book for teens who are looking for something that is different from the traditional story. This book can be enjoyed by those who love fairy tale retellings, those with a little bit on an imagination and those who enjoy unconventional books.
For the first time, Richelle Mead releases a book that is not in her Vampire Academy series. In The Glittering Court, Richelle Mead introduces us to Princess Asteria who is not as bloodthirsty and cruel as most royals would be. In fact, she dislikes violence. Asteria has been sentenced to death by beheading because of her family's past and must endure eleven years of exile before she can return home to rule the kingdom with justice and kindness.
The Glittering Court is a story that revolves around the lives of the three woman who are members of the House of Ivreaux. The first woman, Elide, is a princess and heir to her father's kingdom. She has been betrothed to an unknown prince and will only marry if she falls in love with him. In a twist of fate, Prince Gavriel, heir to the kingdom of Navarre, finds himself on the wrong side of his homeland. The second woman, Aline, is a servant girl and also a thief by trade. Her life is not much different from Elide's; she too has been promised to someone she does not want to marry and would like Prince Gavriel for herself. Lastly, there is Lila who was raised in slavery and learns about her heritage when her owner tries to pass her off as his own daughter in law.
The Glittering Court audiobook by Richelle Mead is narrated by Kristen Sieh. As the protagonist, Clary Fray has just moved to Brooklyn. She's been trying to find her missing mother and ends up discovering something even more astonishing--a world of fairies and Shadowhunters hiding from the vampires and werewolves that have fallen under the control of Valentine Morgenstern, who killed her mother. Abandoning her mundane life as a new student in New York City, Clary joins forces with Max Lightwood and a group of Shadowhunters to battle against Valentine.
For readers who are new to the world of Richelle Mead, this may be a good audiobook to start with. It's set in the same world as Vampire Academy, but features two different protagonists. They're twins who work for the king as white-masked guards and live in a home filled with servants and gardens outside the city walls.
