The Girl They Left Behind: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Roxanne Veletzos
The Girl They Left Behind: A Novel is about an 18 year old girl named Liz who was kidnapped by a sex trafficking ring on the day she turns 18. The novel tells the stories of 4 women, who were in different parts of her life, and what happened to them after Liz went missing. There are many suspenseful moments in this book that keep you on edge but overall this is an enjoyable story that has a happy ending.
"I had been living with her for three months, and yet it was not until today that I saw her all the way. Today she is a woman, not just someone's lover or that girl they left behind."
In 'The Girl They Left Behind', Cassandra Campbell takes us on a haunting journey of betrayal and heartache. The story is told through the eyes of the narrator, who speaks openly to her listeners about what she has done to make it easier for them to understand. She recounts the details of her childhood, family life, and her decision to leave her husband and daughter behind in hopes they will be taken care of. For me, this novel was as much a psychological thriller as anything else. I constantly felt anxious while waiting for something dreadful to happen while also trying not to lose interest in the story.
A teenage girl named Elizabeth is in the hospital after a terrible car accident. Elizabeth's parents don't know what to do with her and they can't make her leave the hospital so they hire Cassandra Campbell, an actor who has recorded audiobooks for their company to take care of their daughter. Cassandra is skeptical when she first sees Elizabeth since she has no memory of the accident or anything that happened before it, but quickly grows attached to the girl. As Elizabeth starts to recover from her injuries and regain her memories, Cassandra realizes that Elizabeth was going through something much bigger than she could have ever known.
When the snow falls and covers everything in a blanket of white, the world seems different. One day, when her bus breaks down on a snowy road, Cassie meets a boy named Henry who helps her get back to town. This is their story as they go on adventures together and learn more about each other.
When a young girl goes missing in Greece and is presumed dead, detective Nikos Kostakis begins his investigation. The crime scene is covered in a layer of red paint that leads him to believe the disappearance isn't accidental. But when the trail leads him to three other missing children, he starts to have doubts about whether or not his initial thinking was correct.
