This is a short historical fiction book about two brothers, one of whom falls in love with and marries his sister-in-law. The thing that makes this story unique is that the author does not tell the reader which brother is which and what their relationship to the heroine is until nearly halfway through the book. It creates an interesting mystery to see who is involved with her over these 400 years or so before she was found by the original protagonist, who has come back from America looking for his long lost family.

The first day of school will be the last time that she sees her mother and siblings, until she's 18. If all goes well, she'll then be able to join them. Until then, Rin must endure a challenging life of loneliness and uncertainty, but she knows it will only last a year before everything changes.

The Girl from the Well by Rin Chupeco is a beautifully written book about an abandoned girl and her love for the sounds of music. It's narrated by Andi Arndt, but if you don't have time to listen to the whole thing you can download it as an audiobook instead of buying the physical copy.
