The Flame Bearer Free Audiobook Download by Bernard Cornwell
The Flame Bearer is the story of Thomas de Mowbray. With his death, the de Mowbray dynasty is doomed to extinction. But Cornwell has written this story with the hope that it will be inspirational for those who wish to come back from adversity.
'Matt Bates' has created a powerful reading of Bernard Cornwell's latest addition to his series about the Saxon warriors in England.
"The Flame Bearer" is the story of a boy named Richard Sharpe, an orphan who grew up in a time when British cavalry were numbered in their thousands. He rose to the rank of sergeant as he and his sergeants participated in many battles under Wellington, helping him win the Napoleonic Wars. After being commissioned with a captaincy by the Duke of Wellington himself, Sharpe fought in numerous other battles until he was killed by rebels in 1825 during one of the last skirmishes of the war.
In the Flame Bearer, Cornwell's signature epic tale of war and adventure featuring the fearless Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, readers find themselves swept up on a journey that takes them across lands still rich with legend. Here we meet the Viking hero as he embarks on his career after returning home from his first voyage to France, where he earned much renown for his fighting prowess. He is offered the chance to become an unstoppable warrior-priest by King Horik. The Flame Bearer took me on an unforgettable trip to a time before there was recorded history that I've never forgotten.
In this audiobook, Matt Bates is reading the award-winning novel by Bernard Cornwell. The Flame Bearer tells the story of Johnnie Dawson, son of a blacksmith in England. When the Black Plague ravages England, Dawson's father believes God has sent the plague to punish their sins and take away their power. Despite his father's belief, Dawson is determined to continue their work as smiths and become a great smith like the one that came before. In the process, he falls for Johnnie's mother and soon enough she gives birth to her only son who quickly becomes ill with pestilence. The plague takes 300 years to come back again, but when it does it takes 300 years for England to come back
All of the Cornwell novels are great, however there is one that stands out in particular which has been picked up for a movie. The Flame Bearer was released in 2008 and is narrated by Matt Bates. It tells a fictional account of the real-life battle between King Harold and Duke William.
