The story opens as Nellie, a precocious child, arrives in London from Scotland with her mother and father to live with her grandfather. One day, as she's playing on the streets of London, she starts to notice that not everyone is as they seem -- and it isn't long before she realizes that there are things going on around her that no one else sees.

Ten minutes after she was born, the villagers found her. Unrecognizable from what she had been before, but with a face like no other they'd seen - that of an angel. The Face of a Stranger is the third novel in the William Monk series by Anne Perry. It follows on from 'The Sins of the Wolf,' and tells the story of young, imaginative and intelligent policeman William Monk as he tackles his first murder case. The novel begins with five murders, but over time we learn that there are more than five victims.

'Davina Porter' narrates this text in a fantastic way. She can switch from her normal voice to the voice of the various characters, making them easily distinguishable and easily comprehendible.
