The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein Free Audiobook Download by Kiersten White
In The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, Kiersten White takes readers on an unpredictable journey that combines gothic horror with the supernatural. This is the first in a series of books to be published by Bloomsbury in a format called "audiobooks," or purely audio books.
Elizabeth Frankenstein is not like other girls. She was a boy before she was a girl, and her mother knew it; that's why they had her lobotomized and raised her in secret. Now Elizabeth (who assumes the name Finn) has learned that she has the power to control minds, and she's going on a quest to make everyone fall in love with her.
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein is a riveting, imaginative and frightening new story about how the generations of Frankenstein family are haunted by the sins of their ancestors--and how one young woman will have to make a terrible sacrifice in order to do right by herself, her children and the legacy she's inherited.
Elizabeth Frankenstein is born at an asylum in 1816. Her father is a doctor, who studies the very human concept of "beauty," and her mother was a patient who died during childbirth. Elizabeth has been confined to this institution and her father's experiments for most of her life. She always longs for freedom, but when she finally escapes, she learns that the world is not as kind to people like her as it once seemed." The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White narrated by Katharine Lee Mcewan is the audiobook download for you.
Elizabeth Frankenstein is a troubled girl with a bleak view on life, always haunted by the memory of her dead father and the monster he created. Over time, her family begin to notice that she's changed too much for their comfort, but it may not be just the loss of her father that has Elizabeth struggling to find herself. As she begins to explore her dark thoughts and fantasies, Elizabeth finds herself drawn into a world in which she may be able to create any fantasy of her own.
This is an interesting book. Elizabeth, who was made by the mad scientist Dr. Victor Frankenstein, seems to be a normal girl but very quickly discovers that she has inherited some of his dark tendencies. She begins to have nightmares and go on strange adventures that only she can see, and learns how to manipulate people with her thoughts. This book also gives listeners a glimpse into Victorian society at this time as well as the reasoning behind some of the anti-Frankenstein sentiment that was prevalent at the time.
