The Broken Eye is a complex story about the power of magic, gods and the lengths one will go to in order to be reunited with their loved ones. It's not an easy read, but it is very exciting and Brent Weeks has amped up the mystery in The Broken Eye with some great twists and turns.

The Broken Eye is the fourth book in The Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks, and it continues the story of Kvothe, a young man who has an uncanny ability to magically two-step between realities. When he runs afoul of some powerful enemies and discovers that he can't escape his past mistakes, their only hope for salvation is for him to bring a greater darkness than they could have ever imagined from this world into theirs.

Simon Vance’s narration of The Broken Eye made the audiobook feel much more immersive. I was able to get lost in the moment and forget that this book wasn’t written by a human, but rather a machine. It is safe to say that if you are on the fence about reading or listening to this epic fantasy novel, start with the audio version- it won’t disappoint.

In this book, Simon Vance reads the story of Karris. After her father is killed in a brutal attack, she and her mother are forced to move in with their aunt in the city of Krasia. Soon after arriving, they find themselves at the center of a conflict that threatens the balance of power in the world.

Brent Weeks's newest novel, The Broken Eye, was released this past June and is full of fast-paced action and complex fantasy. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that something is not right in the world of Kaeleer. People are suddenly turning into beasts and the emperor asks assassin Alucard to help with the problem. His task, however, turns out to be much bigger than he expects as he works his way through a web of power-hungry conspiracies to find the true cause behind why their eyes have turned dark.
