Maisie Dobbs is on her way to a new case. A visit to the train station will reveal everything she needs to know about the situation.
Maisie Dobbs, a British detective during the last decades of World War I and into the 1920s, finds herself on assignment in America. In a case that has her chasing clues across state lines and borders, she is asked to work with a man she knows nothing about: Jackson Brodie, a US agent. Jackson is an enigma - but Maisie's been hired because he has connections to Bill Haydon, who Maisie was once engaged to. So now Maisie must navigate her way around Jackson's difficult personality and figure out who he really is.
The American Agent is the first and only novel in the Maisie Dobbs series and it was recently made into a movie. When many people think of spies and intelligence, they tend to imagine James Bond or Jason Bourne but Maisie Dobbs doesn't fit that bill. She's kind, polite, a bit clumsy, bookish, and almost completely invisible when it comes to physical prowess. The American Agent: A Maisie Dobbs Novel by Jacqueline Winspear
