Strongheart: The Lost Journals of May Dodd and Molly McGill is a biography about two famous horse trainers, May Dodd and Molly McGill. Their story starts in the vicinity of 1876 when they were working as trainers for Pawnee King, one of the most successful thoroughbred horses in history.

In the years following the Civil War Molly's family becomes more and more isolated. As her father travels further in search of work he neglects his wife and daughter. The only way to keep from starving is to sell their farm at a steep price to Ephraim McCracken, one of the wealthiest men in town. In her desperation for survival Molly turns to May Dodd for help.

May Dodd, who is otherwise known as Molly McGill, and her husband had been living in the modern world for years. She was a professional woman with an established success and an impressive resume. However, that all changed when she decided she wanted to reconnect with her roots. May takes up hunting and goes on a quest for traditional skills lost to modernity.

The first book in the Strongheart series, "Strongheart" is a coming-of-age story with a focus on relationships and female empowerment. Mimi, May Dodd and Molly McGill are three friends who have been inseparable since they were little. When Molly gets pregnant in their sophomore year of high school, they vow to make it work no matter what. But when their road trip throws them all into different states, May and Molly's friendship is put to the test--until they finally cross paths again right before graduation.

In the early 1800s, May Dodd and Molly McGill were two of America's most prolific fur traders. They made a life for themselves out west in the Alaskan wilderness, but then tragedy struck and their journals were lost before they could ever be published. That is until now. Here are the journals of these legendary women as they document their lives together and their time on the island where they met.
