South of Broad Free Audiobook Download by Pat Conroy
Pat Conroy's autobiographical novel was made into a movie, but this audiobook is just as good. The story follows Pat, his family - including his sister and mother - on their way to visit relatives in South Carolina. This book is about the ways that family members can affect each other's lives and how some of them are concerned about losing the legacy left by their parents and grandparents.
The audiobook tells the story of two men, Johnny and Ben, who were childhood friends who lost contact as they grew up. One day they meet again after Ben's wife mysteriously dies while they were out to dinner on a date. What follows is an emotional journey through both men's past as we try to grasp their connection, his wife and how she died, who killed her and why, etc.
South of Broad is a novel by Pat Conroy that covers the last few years in the life of a group of close friends. The story starts with one of their members, Hoke Moseley, who has recently lost his wife to cancer. Throughout the book, we follow the events surrounding love, death and relationships.
"Mark Deakins' voice was as rich and full of character as the man's prose. It wasn't always perfect, but it fit."
[MARK DEAKINS reads] "And then I grew up. All the way, Donnie. From the time I was a little boy until now, I've grown up."
