The main character, Charlie Holloway, has been living on the road for years following the death of his wife and daughter. He finally stops at a gas station in the middle of nowhere to find that it's closed. After wandering around outside, he finds an envelope addressed to him from his deceased family with $20 inside. Inside the note is a key and instructions to meet at the gas station a week from then. When he goes back to meet with his family, he realizes that nobody is there because it was all just an elaborate scam for revenge and laughs about it for days before crashing his car off-roading and dying in the hospital soon after.

Alfred Molina narrates this audiobook, which is about a man who has been trying to escape the sin of murder. He takes off his "life" and goes on the run. He manages to evade capture by disguising himself as a woman, but then he falls in love with a woman and decides there is no way to escape sin.
