Shane Free Audiobook Download by Jack Schaefer

Shane is the story of a young boy who is abandoned by his family and left to fend for himself. Shane becomes an expert killer and thief, but eventually finds himself captured by a group of thieves. One night, Shane wakes up from captivity and is surprised to find they have let him go.

'Shane' is a short story written by Jack Schaefer, first published in 1956. It tells the story of a young boy nicknamed Shane who, after witnessing his family's murder, becomes a mythical figure who challenges the world's belief systems. Shane is narrated by Eric G. Dove because he "instantly captured the voice of a lonely, frightened boy".

Shane has gone from being a small town boy with a dream of becoming rich to one of the wealthiest men in America. It starts when Shane wins money in the lottery. Since he is a young man, he doesn't know anything about investing so he buys land and builds houses on it. He hires someone to grow food for him and distributes them among his workers. Some people think that this is unfair but they soon change their minds when they see how generous Shane is towards his family and employees.

Jack Schaefer's novel, Shane, is a gripping story about tragedy, regret, and the difficulty of finding peace. The book is narrated by the main character Shane to those who listen with him along his journey through life. His voice is both gentle and arrogant and it carries a timeless message to everyone.

Shane is a story about the great love between an Irish farm boy and his white American who, because of World War II, must join the army for three years. The story is set during a time when racism was prevalent in America and men were forced to serve in the military. This novel is a very easy read for anyone to enjoy.

I was so extremely pleased when I discovered that they had made an audio book of this classic novel. The narrator, Eric G. Dove, starts off his performance as Shane with a very powerful and intense voice that just sends chills down my spine. This is one of my favorite audiobooks to date and that's only because the narrating is so outstanding.
