Send Down the Rain Free Audiobook Download by Charles Martin

I was entranced by the words and their meaning. The characters are well developed, and the language is eloquent. The author's use of descriptions made me feel like I was in the middle of a rainstorm--warm and wet--with my own little world that I had to protect from destruction.

Send Down the Rain is a story of trials and tribulations. The protagonist, Paul Truett, has just lost his job and he's not sure how he's going to make it without that income. After losing his house by default, he's back with his mom but she has a new husband and there isn't room for him in the house. He hopes to find a job soon but all he finds are dead end opportunities like selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door or working at a fast food restaurant.

Charles Martin's Send Down the Rain is a story of hope and redemption. Set in the early 1930s, it follows two brothers who are forced to live alongside their father on a Florida River after their mother's death. The characters are faced with moral dilemmas that test their faith and morals at every turn.

"I was seven when they took me. My mother and father tried to hide me. I knew they were dead before they locked the door." These are the first words in Charles Martin's novel, "Send Down the Rain".

Adam Verner is a young man living in rural Texas, who's struggling to find his identity due to the abuse of his family. Sometimes he feels like he's drowning in a sea of people and is just desperately searching for something that makes him feel complete. When a new girl starts at school named Lacy, Adam instantly falls in love with her. He soon finds out that Lacy has some secrets of her own and they both share a destiny together.

If you're like me, you may have had a hard time staying awake while driving to a wedding last Saturday. If you were lucky enough to attend the wedding, chances are you were sitting in the back of the church and didn't hear much. If that's the case, I recommend listening through Adam Verner's voice as he reads Charles Martin's novel. It may not be an easy listen at times, but if you're looking for something different to help get your day started off right, it might be worth checking out.
