Although King herself narrated the audiobook and says she was glad to have it back, she isn't sure if anyone would want to listen to it again.

(Unabridged) Narrated by Jenny Sterlin (1900-1975), with a cast that includes Colin Firth, Scarlett Johansson, and David Tennant.

It's 1868 and the civil war is over. England is trying to come to grips with the carnage of their own domestic violence, as well as the effects of the death of its King. The heir to the throne has been kidnapped, and one of his kidnappers is rumored to be Prince George...who happened to have been born on Riviera.

It is the year 1897. A young American woman, Clara Sebastian, is settling into a life of leisure in Nice along the French Riviera with her married lover when she meets an old woman who claims to be a witch. The old woman comes to warn Clara that if she quickly marries and bears children, her husband will die. After taking her seriously, Clara embarks on what turns out to be the largest heist in history.

The main character, a female international art forger named 'Anne Duchemin', is an art dealer and collector who specializes in rare and difficult to acquire paintings. Anne becomes involved in the case of a missing painting from Riviera Gold, a private museum with ties to one of the most powerful men in France. The novel is set in France during the 1930s.

The lead character is a woman who is trying to find out the truth about her family, and in particular her mother. She ends up caught up in an international intrigue involving a priceless painting that is worth more than one life. The events unfold through the use of flashbacks as well as present day events.
