Rise to Rebellion: A Novel of the Revolution Free Audiobook Download by Jeff Shaara

In Jeff Shaara's novel Rise to Rebellion, the American colonies rebel against the British crown. The novel focuses on the eventful life of Robert Rogers and his journey up to being a leader in the revolution. As a young boy, Robert had been encouraged by his father to read books about great men who found success in different fields. He was inspired by Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin and dreamed of becoming one himself one day. His dreams were cut short when he was forced into military service in 1756. By this point, he had learned how to use weapons, ride horses, and lead men under his command. In 1769, after returning from military services and three years of studying law at William & Mary College, he decides that he wants to join the fight for independence from Britain as soon as possible.

A revolution, with the fate of America at stake. The country is divided, and many believe that only a violent reaction will bring change. But one man is determined to prove them wrong: George Washington. A conqueror turned revolutionary who rallies against an unjust government, George must lead his forces in a war for independence--and survive all odds to save what remains of the American dream.

Jeff Shaara's novel, "Rise to Rebellion," is told through a series of three parallel stories set in April 1781. At the time, tension is mounting within the colonies due to British treatment of the Americans as well as with France who have had an alliance with England for years. The three stories follow George Washington's troops through their experiences at Valley Forge, Benedict Arnold's efforts to aid the Americans in Canada, and Nathanael Greene's success in fighting back against the British.

Rise to Rebellion: A Novel of the Revolution is a historical novel about the United States' revolution, told from the perspective of John Adams. The story begins with young John Adams as he visits his father, who's just met Benjamin Franklin. He asks his father if he has seen anything that seems unusual lately? His father says no but then says something odd and tells him about how this man has been wearing "red stockings under his breeches" to catch people's attention. Young John Adams soon becomes convinced that this man is part of a group called the Sons of Liberty and will help start the revolution.

"Rise to Rebellion" is about a twelve-year-old boy, John Henry, who lives in Richmond, Virginia and witnesses the beginning of the war with Britain from his home. As the war progresses, it becomes more and more difficult for John Henry to hide his British heritage. With his father fighting on one side and some British soldiers that raided their home on the other, John Henry has a tough time trying to keep himself together. "Rise to Rebellion" shows how important it is for people of all backgrounds to support each other during times of turmoil.
