Bernadette Dunne narrates the story of a wealthy businessman, who although he has many businesses, is now unemployed and looking for a job. He takes up his girlfriend's offer to buy her a large iron flamingo that she bought on her last trip from Florida as a gag gift. The flamingos are quickly sold out across town and soon after, someone starts painting them all over Chicago with spray paint. A reporter for the Chicago Tribune gets in touch with the woman who owns the original wrought-iron flamingos and asks if she can recreate them for revenge. In order to do so, she hires an artist to make new ones in bronze which were then shipped off to Chicago overnight by boat. The woman pays their shipping costs too but not before they ship one of the original wrought-iron flamingos back to her and begin painting it as well.
