Prime Cut Free Audiobook Download by Diane Mott Davidson
The Prime Cut is Diane Mott Davidson's 9th novel in this mystery series featuring Chicago homicide detective Lindsay Boxer. Lindsay follows her usual routine of making coffee and checking her email, but then she sees a large metal object in the parking lot. Investigating the scene, she discovers that the metal object was lined with nails and designed to cause maximum damage on impact. The investigation leads Lindsay to a dead body at a slaughterhouse and beyond, but it also leads to a bomb that has been set off at Pier W.
Prime Cut is about a prime rib dinner that Diane Mott Davidson and her husband have with her parents. Everything goes well until her mother-in-law brings up the topic of dieting and how it's too bad that in recent years, the American Dietetic Association has been recommending such poor nutritional advice for their patients that many are getting sicker. The dinner might have ended there, but then Davidson's father-in-law mentions something he read recently that changed his mind about what to eat.
Diane Mott Davidson has created an amazing set of characters that make you not want to put the story down. This book is a page turner from page one and it's a great listen as well.
I was really surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read and the narrator did an excellent job.
Every year in May, the town of Slocum, Texas has a cattle drive. Every year some young cowboys try to break the record for making a herd move fastest and taking home the prize. The last two times Buck Hardesty was the one who won the prize and he was determined to win again this year. He had been counting down the days until that day ever since it happened years ago but this time something special needed to happen before he could win.
I enjoyed listening to this audio book. I listened to it on my way to work last week and was able to accomplish more because of the audiobook being narrated by Barbara Rosenblat. Being in an unfamiliar city, listening to her voice helped me feel more at ease with driving in an unfamiliar area, which was very much needed for when I had to get off the interstate and back on again.
