Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors: A Novel Free Audiobook Download by Sonali Dev

Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors is the story of three generations of women and the hardships they endure in their pursuit for love amidst the imperfections of society. They are strong-willed and powerful women who take control of their destinies, shaping a future for themselves in a time when it was nearly impossible to be anything but what society dictated.

The novel is a coming-of-age story of protagonist Alice, who is navigating her way through the teenage years and struggles with growing up. One of the main themes in the book is acceptance for those who are different, and Alice learns to take pride in herself and love herself.

When I first heard the title and then reviewed the synopsis, I knew this was my kind of book. This novel is about Zoey and her quest to find out where she came from as well as who she really is. It's a story about finding love in all places, not just one. The audiobook was an added bonus for me because it allowed me to fall into the characters more easily with their voice rather than seeing the words on a page.

The novel tells the story of Aesop's fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". In this story, a young boy is told to be careful and not to lie as he might get caught one day. But the boy takes his chances and lies about how many pieces of candy he has in his pocket when he comes across a bigger child looking for more. The boy is later caught, punished, and learns from his experiences. This book offers multiple lessons on the different kinds of prejudice that people face from prejudice based on how someone looks, where they come from, or who they are related to.

"Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors" is a collection of short stories about the lives of both immigrant and native American people. The main character in each story is Soneela, who's life changes after meeting her husband at a party. The stories are all interconnected due to the cultural similarities between them and involve the cultural differences between them as well as some other themes such as immigration, discrimination, and family.
