When she moves to live with her older sister in Atlanta, Georgia, Vera quickly finds herself surrounded by a new group of friends. There's Talia and Tyler Ward, who are the exes of two popular boys in school; Spencer MacAdam and Amanda Holden, two upper-class siblings who are tired of having everything handed to them; and Carter Bennett, the rich son of a major movie producer. The six form a band called "Nosy" as they try to break into the world of music. They become friends but also rivals as they vie for fame and recognition in their chosen field. Meanwhile, Vera struggles at home where her mother still treats her like an unwanted daughter while her father still has violent tendencies when drunk. It doesn't help that he drinks more than ever now that he has his freedom back after serving his prison sentence for beating Vera's mother

Thanks to the narrator, who does a wonderful job at capturing the different characters and giving them their own voice. The narrator also does an amazing job at making the book come alive with her voice.
