Our Kind of People Free Audiobook Download by Carol Wallace

Our kind of people is a poignant tale about two teenagers who are best friends and find themselves torn apart when one decides to leave for college. Set in the heart of West Virginia, Our Kind of People is an intimate story that begs the reader to root for its characters and ask hard questions about their choices.

Carol Wallace is a woman who struggles to make a living in the 1920s. At 53, Carol decides to work as a maid for a wealthy family in order to support her daughter and grandchildren. She goes on to be their personal housekeeper for several years. Her story is beautifully written and reads like a novel. Suzanne Barbetta does an excellent job narrating Our Kind of People and I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much without her voice.

When Jack asks his mom what she thinks of him now, she says she hasn't noticed any change in him since he became a father. "I never thought you'd have the nerve to do it," she says. "To have a kid."

Our Kind of People by Carol Wallace and narrated by Suzanne Barbetta is a story about a family that never had much, but are happy with what they have. They live in a small town deep in the country, and as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that their happiness comes from having each other. The story also reveals the pride of being "our kind of people."

Carol Wallace is living the nightmare. She has no family, no friends, and a dead-end job. As she drives to work on an overcast morning, she finds an abandoned baby left in her car's backseat. The rest of the day becomes one long blur of emotions and interactions with other people as she attempts to find out who the baby belongs to and how to return it safely.
